The meeting to assess the readiness to upgrade the status of the technical and vocational school to a technical and vocational college in Bolikhamxay was held on August 18, 2025 at the ICT Center conference room. It was chaired by Mr. Vilayphone Phommahaxay, Director of the Department of Vocational Education, Ministry of Education, Mr. Lom Phengsuk, Provincial Party Member and Head of the Provincial Department of Education and Sports, with a responsible committee from the relevant departments of the Ministry of Education and Sports, the advisory board of the provincial technical and vocational school, and invited guests from surrounding departments and teachers in attendance.
Mr. Khamvan Panyanouvong, Director of Bolikhamxay Provincial Vocational and Technical School, presented a proposal to upgrade the status of Bolikhamxay Vocational and Technical School to a technical and vocational college. Bolikhamxay Vocational and Technical School is located in Houay Khoun Village, Bolikhamxay District, Bolikhamxay Province. It was established in accordance with the decision of the Minister of Education and Sports No. 1458/S.S.S., dated September 25, 2002, and received funding to improve infrastructure and technical equipment in 2018-2019. It has been 23 years old so far. It consists of 3 units: academic, administrative-organizational, and activities. There are 7 fields of study: agriculture, animal husbandry, industry (crafts, processing, sewing), business administration, automobiles, electricity, construction-carpentry, with a total of 59 teachers, 28 of whom are female, 7 with master's degrees and 1 with female, 31 with bachelor's degrees and 15 with female, 18 with higher education degrees and 9 with female, 3 with intermediate degrees and 3 with female. Currently, there are a total of 521 students, 185 of whom are female, of whom 269 are general-vocational students and 102 are female. Borikhamxay Technical-Vocational School will develop a vocational education system to create a workforce with knowledge, skills, revolutionary moral qualities and correct values, able to meet the needs of the labor market, ready to cooperate and compete with countries in the region; For specific purposes, it will promote enrollment and gender equality in access to vocational education with a focus on women and the disadvantaged, improve and strengthen all fields of study and teaching to ensure the quantity of graduates can meet the needs of the labor market, upgrade teachers and technical and teaching staff, promote the provision of scholarships for students from poor families and the disadvantaged so that they have the opportunity to continue to use their talents, abilities for personal and social development. It will build the Borikhamxay Technical and Vocational School into a university.
